River Plate president Jorge Pablo Brito believes Franco Mastantuono should stay at the club to develop amid links with a number of European clubs.
Mastantuono has been promoted from the youth system to River Plate’s first team in 2024 and the 17-year-old has made 58 appearances for the first team, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists.
In an interview with ESPN, Brito explained that the Argentina Under-20 international should continue his development at the club amid links to Manchester United and other clubs.
“It is important that we are patient with Mastantuono, understanding that he is only 17, he is not in a hurry and neither is River Plate,” he said.
“The best thing to do when things are going well is to let him grow and not touch anything. You have to be very careful and not put too much pressure on him.”
Mastantuono turns 18 in August. This means Manchester United could bring him to the UK if they want to sign him.
